Salton Sea PPG Gathering 2023 Review

Welcome to our latest Parajet article where we take a quick look at our recent visit and get-together at the famous annual Salton Sea PPG gathering in southern California during February 2023. Here we share a few of the great moments captured at this glorious event from Tom PB, Parajet Sales Director.

Tom took the trip over to California to meet up with some of the best in the PPG industry, pioneers of Paramotoring, with loads of old faces and new ones too. It was the perfect opportunity to catch up with old friends, make new ones whilst providing the chance to test equipment, share PPG stories, flying tips & more with each other as well as of course the chance to enjoy the awesome flying conditions and landscapes that Salton has to offer. Let’s see what Tom got up to;

Hi everyone! Thank you for joining me on this quick recap of my trip to Salton Sea last month.

Coming to this event over the last number of years I have noticed more and more pilots in attendance from all over the USA and indeed the world, which is a fantastic testament to the growth of the industry overall and the enthusiasm of pilots to attend fly-ins and hang out with their fellow members of the PPG community. The sense of community and flying family is super strong, and the opportunity to meet so many people who share the same passion and love for this great sport is a wonderful experience. I hugely enjoy and value the opportunity to spend time with the extended US PPG family and I’m already looking forward to the next event!

The location and conditions in Salton are perfect for pilots with a wide variety of skill levels, and with so many instructors and senior PPG members in attendance there is always a great opportunity for pilots to seek advice or share the incredible stories from peoples flying experiences. I am continuously humbled by the friendships, kindness and generosity shown to me throughout the entire PPG community and I can’t thank everyone enough for making it such a great event. A special thanks goes out to my buddies Dan and Mike for putting a roof over my head, and to John for making me laugh so hard it hurt!

A typical day would see over 100 pilots ascend over the fantastically diverse Salton landscape. With flights including cruising along the stunning Salton shoreline with the wind in my face, flying with friends to the local ice cream shop, dropping in to a pumping dance party and buzzing in a group through the epic canyons like TIE Fighters on the Death Star, it’s fair to say we had some serious fun! If you haven’t already visited and been flying at Salton I would highly recommend adding it to your to do list!

Keep an eye on our social platforms as Tom will share more great stories and experiences from his recent trip to Salton Sea, and we will continue to share more content, stories and updates from other events throughout 2023. Hopefully we will see and meet some of you in person at future upcoming events!
